The club announced the signing on Thursday. Elmer went to Chelsea in 2005, and spent a couple of seasons in the team’s youth program. After that, he went back to his native Switzerland. In 2010, he moved to Sion of the Swiss Super League. Jonas Elmer Yes, that was the same year that Sion faced a transfer ban and chucked out of the Europa League for transfer violations, but Elmer wasn’t part of that. By 2012, Elmer was playing in the Swiss lower divisions; he spent last season with FC Winterthur of the Swiss second division. He scored one goal in 21 matches from the left back position. Elmer had eight caps for the Swiss U-21 side.
