Summer Clarke played just 50 minutes, and it was enough time for her to score three times and set up two more. Yup, that’s a goal created or scored once every 10 minutes for the Richmond, B.C. product as Canada romped over Panama by a 6-0 count in their opening match at the CONCACAF Women’s U-17 championship on Wednesday.

Canada was up 2-0 within the first 12 minutes of the match, held in Guatemala City, thanks to goals from Nichelle Prince and Jasmin Dhanda, but Clarke was the author of both goals with incisive passes.

Then, Clarke scored a hat trick before the halftime whistle, then played five minutes into the second half before she was taken out for Amanda Pierre-Louis. A minute later, Pierre-Louis beat the offside trap, went in alone on the keeper, and scored to give Canada the six-goal cushion.

Canada is the defending U-17 CONCACAF Champion, not that it means much because most of the girls from that team have moved on to the U-20 ranks.
