The agent for Canadian midfielder Mozzi Gyorio has confirmed that an initial contract offer from Sporting Kansas City has been turned down — and that the midfielder is still on the market.

Canadian U-23 coach Tony Fonseca has made four cuts — and is going with a very young lineup for the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament, which begins Thursday night in Nashville.

Mozzi Gyorio, the pride of Stratford, P.E.I., scored on a perfectly placed free kick to give FC Tampa Bay a 2-1 win over the NSC Minnesota Stars in NASL action Tuesday night. The win clinches a playoff spot for third-place FC Tampa Bay but, more importantly for the Impact, still leaves Montreal just four points behind Minnesota for the final playoff spot in the NASL.

Stratford, PEI’s Mozzi Gyorio has been a big part of FC Tampa Bay’s surge up the standings. Gyorio, who is currently part of the national U-23 player pool, is a playmaking midfielder who can play in the middle or out on the right. He scored a key last-gasp free-kick marker in last week’s 3-3 draw in Montreal.

Coming into tonight’s game against FC Tampa Bay — needing to make up a point a game on the sixth-place Fort Lauderdale over the course of the season’s last nine games in order to take part in the postseason — the Montreal Impact tonight snatched a draw from the jaws of victory, as the visiting FC Tampa Bay came back from a two-goal deficit at the 84-minute mark to end the night in a 3-3 draw.

In an entertaining, end-to-end match which saw both teams create their fair shares of scoring chances, FC Tampa Bay got a second-half goal from Shane Hill and an insurance marker from Pascal Millien to give the home side a 3 -1win over FC Edmonton.
