It’s a given that Canadians love to head to Florida — OK, maybe a little less so since Donald Trump was elected president of the United States — and that has become evident in our weekly ranking of minutes played by Canadians in the North American pro soccer leagues.

Now, this is the part where I can tell you what you’ve gotten yourself into. Think of me as the guy at the water cooler on your first day who pulls you aside and tells you how things really work around here.

But, for most of the second half, the loud-as-hell trumpeter (or was it a trumpet section) in Monterrey’s famous “Volcano” stadium belted out “Seasons in the Sun.” Over and over. Maybe it was because Tigres were playing the Vancouver Whitecaps Tuesday night in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League semifinal — and well, Terry Jacks is from Vancouver.

Toronto FC created a bit of a stir this past weekend, when the Reds started no Canadians for Saturday’s road date in Philadelphia.

But, starting this season, each team is required to start three Canadians for each tournament match.

But, we are bringing back our look at what teams are giving Canadians the most minutes in MLS and, when they kick off, North America’s two division-two leagues. And, the big Canadian focus is on… Orlando City.

You know what, America? Instead of wondering “how will we ever beat Mexican teams in the CCL?” focus on trying to be better than the Canadian teams, first. Walk before you run.

Basically, we have a radically different sports landscape in Canada as MLS is set to open the 2017 season. Unlike last season, the sports media will have its eyes squarely set on the NHL.

Meanwhile, he had a solid contract offer from the Jacksonville Armada. He received the offer just after the conclusion of the 2016 NASL season. The Armada’s brass knew he was going to try and get back to MLS, but Beckie also understood that the NASL side couldn’t wait too long for him to make a decision.
