Both Toronto FC and the Montreal Impact took part in full scrimmages Wednesday as they took advantage of a break in the schedule at the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic in Orlando, Fla.
Both Canadian teams were upstaged by a Canadian trialist in the final day of group-stage play at the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic.
“I’ve known Colin so there’s no awkwardness. I’ve talked to him,” said Porter. “I’ve had numerous chats with him and everything seems to be good and right now the focus is just on these upcoming games so right now that’s what I’m focussing on.”
Officially, Porter is one of five unattached players Miller has called into team, as the forward has yet to accept a new contract offer from FCE.
“There are some injury issues, unfortunately, and we will have a couple of players that cannot be part of the campaign,” said Hart. “Marcel de Jong is out and Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault is out and we’re waiting on some medical reports on two other players.”
“I think the first 10 minutes we knew St. Kitts was a fast team and they work hard,” midfielder Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault said. “Sometimes we had a couple of problems but those games happen. We just have to keep our head up and be prepared for the next round.”
The members of the Canadian national men’s team who will take the field for a World Cup qualifier Friday in St. Lucia will have to make some interesting footwear choices. Should they go with longer blades or shorter studs?
Injuries have already forced national-team coach Stephen Hart to make three changes to the roster ahead of Canada’s first two World Cup qualifiers.
