For the second time in less than three days, the Reds were victimized by leaving a man unmarked on a throw-in that led to a goal.

This time the hero was an unexpected one for FCD — a player who wasn't even supposed to start the match. FCD coach Schellas Hyndman was forced to make a last-minute change his starting XI and inserted newly acquired defender Jack Stewart.

In a nearly empty stadium in Panama, TFC and Tauro FC put on what was a 90-minute comedy of errors. Toronto FC got a 2-1 victory, but the real stunner was that this game didn’t end with a much higher scoreline.

All the changes worked for the best as Joao Plata's 77th-minute strike gave TFC a 1-0 victory over RSL. The win snapped a six-game (0-4-2) winless streak in league play for Toronto and suddenly the Reds find themselves on a five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2) in all competitions.

"When you come back and make it 2-2, it's very good but honestly you have to win the game because we've lost two points,” TFC head coach Aron Winter said after the match.

"I went to pick it up like I've picked up a million balls like that," Kocic said. "It was wet grass and then all of a sudden dry grass I was sliding on and the dry grass flipped me over the ball....It's unacceptable, obviously. The mistake shouldn't happen but that's sport, what can I say?"

Up to the 28-minute mark of what would become yet another Toronto FC debacle on the road, the Reds had given coach Aron Winter and their supporters some signs of hope. After pulling off back-to-back wins over Vancouver Whitecaps and a third straight Nutrilite Canadian Championship last week, Toronto unraveled on Wednesday night in a 5-0 loss to New York at Red Bull Arena.
