Andy Ramos didn’t defect. He didn’t slip away before a national-team game. He didn’t ask for asylum.

All Canada will need to do is get a draw with Nicaragua Friday to get into the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF U-20 Championship.

In the first half, the Canadian U-20s didn’t take their chances. In the second half, they were simply taken to the cleaners.

Nick Dasovic has pared the national U-20 team roster down to 20 players, 48 hours before the team opens the CONCACAF Championship in Puebla, Mexico.

FC Edmonton announced its list of 30 “trialists” invited to training camp, which officially begins tomorrow with fitness testing at the University of Alberta Butterdome.

FIFA made the decision back in November of 2012 that the Canadian striker would be suspended for six games, but didn’t make it official until Monday.

On Tuesday, Dasovic named his preliminary 23-man roster for the CONCACAF U-209 Championship. The team will gather Feb. 11 in Mexico City for a pre-tournament camp. And, right before the team plays its Feb. 18 opener in Puebla against Cuba, Dasovic will need to pare the roster down to 20 players.

Nick Dasovic spoke with FC Edmonton’s front office about the vacant coaching position, but he remains committed to the Canadian U-20 program.

"That's a good question," responded Occean when asked what happened. "I think in the moment we want to score more goals and want to get the ball back and I lightly pushed the goalkeeper, then red card. So that's rough, that's kind of rough. That's poor refereeing, really poor refereeing."

"We could've at least scored seven goals today, we had so many chances," said Atiba Hutchinson. "There could've been a lot more. Players kind of had their heads down a little bit because we know we could've had more goals."
