Calen Carr, who scored both goals as the Dynamo beat Sporting Kansas City 2-1 last Wednesday, then helped set up Macoumba Kandji’s opening goal in a 3-0 win over Montreal Saturday, got the nod.

A late meltdown cost the Vancouver Whitecaps a win Wednesday night, as the Los Angeles Galaxy scored twice in the final 10 minutes to salvage an unlikely draw.

On Monday, the Whitecaps announced the expected signing of Scottish striker Kenny Miller to a Designated Player contract. He will join countryman Barry Robson, who made his Caps’ debut earlier this month.

On Friday night, the failed experiment to marry Le Toux — one of MLS’ top scorers over the past three seasons — into the Whitecaps lineup came to an end. The French forward was traded to the New York Red Bulls, who already have Kenny Cooper and Thierry Henry up front, in exchange for midfielder Dane Richards and allocation money.

Whenever a team can go into the Denver suburbs and steal a road win, it’s a positive. It doesn’t have to be pretty.

MLS is supposed to have a hard cap, but it doesn't. Allocation money, which is never publicly declared, shifts around the league. So no one really knows who has what. And that includes the people who cover the game.

“I don’t expect to play,” Robson said. “You [reporters] can say what you like but I don’t expect to play at the moment. The team are doing very well, they’re sitting third in the [Western Conference], playing very well. It’s time for me to go and break in, work hard, wait for my chance and get in the team.

The team announced Thursday that Scottish international Barry Robson will join the team in July as a Designated Player. Because Robson will join at the halfway mark of the MLS campaign, his cap will be US$167,500 in 2012.
