Hume scores his first for Doncaster Rovers By Steven Sandor Posted on September 29, 2012 Comments Off on Hume scores his first for Doncaster Rovers 0 757 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Canadian striker Iain Hume opened his Doncaster Rovers’ account in a 2-0 win over at Leyton Orient Saturday. Brampton, Ont.’s Hume, on loan to Rovers from Preston North End, beat two defenders after taking a pass from teammate Chris Brown — giving Rovers the lead in the 10th minute of play. For Hume, who came over to Doncaster on loan at the end of August, it was his first goal in Rovers’ colours. Hume wasn’t part of Canada’s squad for its most recent pair of World Cup qualifiers, which saw our national side beat Panama in Toronto but lose to that same side in Panama City. With forward Dwayne De Rosario definitely out of Canada’s two key October qualifiers — home to Cuba and away to Honduras — the door is open for other attacking players to seize the opportunity. With a good run of matches, Hume could put his name back on national coach’s Stephen Hart’s radar.
