Canada’s women’s U-20 side and the Swiss U-20 side drew 1-1 on Friday night in front of 400 spectators. The game was a tune-up for the upcoming U-20 Women’s World Cup. Two of Canada’s deadliest players from the CONCACAF qualifiers, Christabel Oduro and Nkem Ezurike, combined to equalize for the visiting side. Ezurike set up Oduro — and Canada created many chances afterwards, including a second-half bicycle-kick effort that Swiss player Mirnije Selimi cleared off the line. The Swiss opened the scoring in the 14th minute, a long kick from keeper Nadine Boni freed forward Cora Canetta, who finished her chance. The Women’s U-20 World Cup begins Aug. 19.
