Antoniuk signs with FC Edmonton By Steven Sandor Posted on March 16, 2011 Comments Off on Antoniuk signs with FC Edmonton 0 697 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Dan Antoniuk has accepted FC Edmonton’s contract offer. The American striker, whose trial with FC Dallas was aborted when the MLS team managed to fill its roster before his tryout was set to begin, agreed Tuesday to join the NASL club for its inaugural season. Antoniuk, a veteran of North American second-division soccer, impressed in two preseason games with FC Edmonton last week, including a goal. He was good enough in the game against FC Dallas that the MLS club asked if he wanted to have a shot at cracking its lineup. He was set to leave for Dallas, but when FCD filled its roster, the trip was off. So, on Saturday, he headed to Cincinnati to rejoin the San Diego Sockers — where he was was team MVP last season — to help the club defend its PASL-Pro North American indoor soccer title. It was a week filled with frequent flyer miles, but now the pen has been put to paper. The club has been looking for players with USL and NASL experience to augment what is a very young roster filled with Canadian content. Antoniuk has played for the Portland Timbers, Montreal Impact, Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina RailHawks and the Charleston Battery along with a large resume of indoor-league appearances.
