The Whitecaps announced the signings of three men Wednesday who fall very much into the “project player” category: Paulo Jr., Tom Heinemann and Corey Hertzog.

Northern Irish side Linfield FC have confirmed that two of its players are leaving the club and are moving to Canada. But Linfield didn’t confirm to which Canadian side defender Albert Watson and striker Daryl Fordyce will be heading.

Just days after drafting two local products, Kyle Bekker and Emery Welshman, in the MLS SuperDraft, TFC confirmed the rumoured addition of former Canadian national-team keeper Pat Onstad to the club’s staff.

According to Del Piccolo’s agent, via Twitter, the Impact “retain DelPiccolo's MLS rights. IMFC have been very supportive and we remain on good terms with an eye on the future.”

“We are thankful for the contributions Barry made during his time with the club. Unfortunately Barry and his family never fully settled in Vancouver, and we’ve mutually decided to move in different directions,” said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi in that release.

“I had a serious interest in the position and, in my talks with Tom Anselmi, I believed that Tom Anselmi has a serious interest in me,” said Wilt. “As it turned out, I may have been mistaken about that.”

“Blake Smith was our second choice. From all the reports and all the work that has been done by our staff and the feedback we got from different coaches in college, we’re extremely happy with the pick,” said Impact Sporting Director Nick De Santis.

Kyle Bekker and Emery Welshman are going home.

"The idea is to move up with an eye to picking Bekker but it won’t be easy,” De Santis concluded.
