Stephen Hart offered no surprises in naming the Canadian men's naional-team roster for Sept. 7 and 11 World Cup qualifiers against Panama.

The Canadian Soccer Association maintains that it’s staying the course with its brand — and, as partners, the two parties are always in close contact. So, it’s not like the news of what’s happening to Umbro around the world isn’t monitored by the CSA brass.

It was a blue Monday for the Canadian U-20 Women’s national team.

Stephen Hart doesn’t expect the Panamanian national team to reinvent the wheel before their two World Cup qualifying encounters in September.

“This is another positive step for our football club, signing another promising young defender for the long term,” said Head Coach and Director of Soccer Operations Paul Mariner in a release issued by the club.

To the outsider walking past the cricket oval at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill Fla., they could have easily confused Wednesday’s Canada/Trinidad and Tobago international friendly as a high-school soccer game.

“We wanted, heading into this tournament, to leave the sport in a better place than what it was when we got into it,” Sinclair said. “I could never have imagined this would happen.”

Four players who took part in Olympic qualifying with the U-23 side, Doneil Henry, Russell Teibert, Evan James and Lucas Cavallini, will all get their chances to make an impression with Hart.

Herdman has worked miracles with this team in less than a year. Imagine what he could do with three years of prep time before the Women’s World Cup?
