Latching onto a loose ball after Andy O'Brien and Johnny Leveron both moved toward Robbie Keane in the third minute, the U.S. international powered a laser of a shot into the top left side of David Ousted's goal in what would turn out to be game winner.

“We saw fresh legs tonight, good movement and, in the end, it was a big victory for us,” Biello said after the match. “I think we played well defensively. We were very compact and were able to counter-attack several times. We saw a little of everything."

But, make no mistake, while Convey got the goal — the Reds’ man of the match was clearly Joe Bendik. It was the TFC keeper who gave the chance for the Reds to get a point.

“It’s amazing,” said Levis, a Saskatoon native, over the phone from Vancouver. “It’s a dream come true. It’s something I’ve worked towards my whole life. Even if nothing comes out of this trial, the experience itself will be worth it. I will take as much as I can from the experience, to learn as much as I can from the players and the coaching staff.”

But, when it came to the player of the week vote, Robbie Keane stood apart from the crowd.

“We know that Marco and Felipe have been going through a bit of a rough spell. We were lucky that Marco made the difference tonight with his two goals. Overall, I think that we played very well,” said Schallibaum. “We applied immense pressure on the sides with Justin (Mapp) and Romero. We were very much at ease both offensively and defensively too. D.C. plays an intelligent game and is a tough team to play.”

The Rapids claimed their 2-0 victory through a rookie and a veteran, as Deshorn Brown and Edson Buddle scored efforts for the victorious home side.
