Laryea is the third Canadian to play for Orlando City this season — joining Will Johnson and Cyle Larin. And the Lions continue to lead MLS when it comes to giving minutes to Canadian players.

Larin is still comfortably in second place, but Orlando teammate Will Johnson took over the lead.

Three Canadian keepers all made their season debuts: Nathan Ingham started Wednesday and Saturday for FC Edmonton, as he looks (for now) to have at least a loose grip on the No. 1 position with the club. Marcel DeBellis, formerly of the Ottawa Fury, got into a game for the Richmond Kickers; and Marco Carducci finally got his chance to start for Rio Grande Valley.

You couldn’t shake the feeling that Rob Gale, the coach of the Canadian U-20 men’s team, was trying to keep the focus off the high-profile players on his roster.

Hanson Boakai will be going to the CONCACAF Championship in Jamaica, but he’ll be the only FC Edmonton player making the trip.

And one name jumps right out at the Canadian soccer supporter. Fraser Aird.

Sometimes, draws feel like losses. And, sometimes, they feel like wins. Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Iran definitely falls into the latter category.

Both sides could have had more goals. Canadian midfielder Marco Bustos had a fantastic first-half effort denied by the fingertips of Austrian keeper Alexander Schlager. And, with less than 20 minutes to play and the score level at 2-2, Bustos saw his drive go off the bar.

The Canadian team played the third-place match as if it was playing for gold.
