David Monsalve, who made one MLS appearance with Toronto FC back in 2007, is back with a Canadian pro club. Monsalve announced on Twitter Friday that his trial with FC Edmonton has been successful.

Mallory Outerbridge, who led the Ottawa Fury to an undefeated run through the regular season and the Central Conference championship, was named the league MVP. This wasn’t a surprise; Outerbridge led all of the W-League with 17 goals in 12 regular-season games.

Cameron Knowles has done enough to prove to the Montreal Impact that he’s recovered from a broken leg suffered nearly two years ago. The Impact announced Tuesday that the club has signed the New Zealand fullback and ex-Portland Timber for the rest of the season.

While there has been no official yea or nay from the club, CBC’s John Molinaro reported Monday that the club has informed defender Dan Gargan that he will be released in the coming days. You had to feel this one was coming after Gargan wasn’t part of the squad that made the trip to Kansas City for Saturday’s loss.

The Fury earned the right to go to the W-League’s final four in Seattle by beating the No. 4 seed Toronto Lady Lynx 4-0 on Saturday and crushing the Quebec City Amiral 6-0 in Sunday’s conference final at Ottawa’s Algonquin College.

Carolina Morace resigned as the national women’s team coach late Thursday, according to various reports. The Canadian Soccer Association, as of Friday morning, still had not confirmed that Morace is gone.

The Montreal Impact announced Thursday that the Canadian Soccer Association has “acquitted” captain Nevio Pizzolitto in regards to an alleged spitting incident after the club was eliminated from the Nutrilite Canadian Championship by the Vancouver Whitecaps. Pizzolitto had been accused of spitting on a fan May 4 after the Impact lost to the Whitecaps in extra time at Empire Field.
