So, it’s a good time to analyze the numbers: So far this season, 27 Canadians have played in MLS matches.

Of course, the Fury, who have been playing Canadians in the 700-minutes-per-game range over the past few weeks, had the most movers and shakers. Four of the top 11 USL players in terms of minutes played by Canadians are Fury players. And they comprise six of the top 20.

You’ll notice that Noah Verhoeven — and his 594 minutes played so far this season for Fresno FC — has been added to the rankings. He’s been assimilated into the Canadian collective.

Toronto FC’s 2-1 win over Orlando City on Friday night was the big highlight of this weekend’s Can-con activity in the North American first- and second-division leagues.

After starting the USL season on a six-game winless skid, the Ottawa Fury won twice in the past week, righting the ship with a lot of Canadians on hand.

Well, it was quite a weekend for Canadians in MLS and USL. There were goals aplenty from Canadians in the North American professional leagues.

For the second week in a row, a Canadian has struck against Fresno FC, the new U.S.-based affiliate of the Vancouver Whitecaps.

But, what makes this final hard to take, well, it’s because CONCACAF just had to go and go all 1970s NASL with the format. It’s ridiculous that a continental club championship doesn’t provide for extra time to be played if the two teams are level after two legs. To go straight to penalty kicks… ugh. Give the players 30 more minutes to try and decide a championship in an 11-v-11 environment.

But, in terms of “most ironic game of the week involving a Canadian player,” let’s focus on last Wednesday’s 2-2 draw between Fresno and Tulsa.
