Adrian Cann’s knee injury has transformed him from Canadian national team hopeful to superfan. But the Toronto FC central defender is happy to do what he can to rally fan support ahead of Canada’s Friday home date with St. Lucia — the opening of World Cup qualifying. “This game is my passion my life,” said Cann. “But I can do whatever I can to rally support for the team.”

But, today, the Canadian Soccer Association announced the launch of a new online store, where fans can buy jerseys, warm-up gear and other licensed products. Reps from Umbro Canada confirmed that the prices in the online store are identical to the MSRPs for the physical retailers.

Oakville Soccer Club is a fascinating case in point. Earlier this month, the club unveiled a new Red Zone, where OSC-branded Umbro gear would be made available to the paying public. The new store is located in the Pine Glen Soccer Centre, where Toronto FC does the bulk of its indoor training.

FC Edmonton will sport a new look for the 2011 season. The team confirmed that the kits it will wear for its inaugural NASL season will be different than the ones the club wore in a series of 2010 friendlies. Umbro will remain the team’s kit supplier.

After a relationship with Adidas that lasted over a decade fell apart, Canada has come back to Umbro, and will wear the new kits when the men’s team plays Greece on Feb. 9. And, of course, the women will wear the Umbro jerseys when they play at the upcoming World Cup.
