It’s a rare occurrence — two Canadian players facing each other in an English Premier League game.

And, in the end, the spoils were shared in the Region of Peel Derby, as Norwich got a last-gasp penalty goal from Grant Holt to earn a 3-3 tie with Blackburn.

So, Mississauga, Ont.’s Simeon Jackson — who came on as 76th-minute sub for the Canaries, and Brampton, Ont’s Junior Hoilett, who scored just before halftime to give Blackburn a 1-0 lead, had to settle for the draw.

Hoilett, who has continually refused national-team coach Stephen Hart’s offers to suit up for Canada, scored a wonder goal in the first half at Carrow Road; he cut in from the left side across the top of the penalty area. Absolutely. If we could just retain the players we produce, we would have a World Cup team (regular participant). Young De Guzman (who still could cap with us legally), the two Hoilett brothers (who lets hope don’t choose England or Jamaica), then we would have a midfield which would probably be the best in Concacaf. Think about it, De Guzman plays in Villarreal, he starts there… that is remarkable for a Canadian player. Also, Hoilett is a top prospect in the EPL, he has uncommon attacking talent.
