Kyle Porter
For this week at least, FC Edmonton’s Kyle Porter looms larger than the most prolific scorer in North American pro soccer.

Porter was named the NASL’s offensive player of the week on Tuesday. The Mississauga. Ont. native scored with his right foot in the first half and with his left in the second as FC Edmonton beat the NSC Minnesota Stars 2-1 to wrap up the Victoria Day long weekend.

Porter now has three goals in four NASL matches for FC Edmonton.

But what’s stunning about the award is that Porter upstaged Maltese striker Etienne Barbara, who scored twice in Carolina’s 3-0 win over the Puerto Rico Islanders. Barbara has been pretty well an automatic pick for every major offensive award doled out by NASL so far this season. Barbara now has 11 goals in eight games. He has scored in every one of Carolina’s NASL games so far this season and, as he told The 11 last week, he is hungry for an MLS side to come get him.
